News

The Schwerdt Lab is recruiting students, technical staff, and postdoctoral scientists. We have immediate openings for students and postdoctoral scholars to study the role of dopamine in skill learning and what happens to these signals in Parkinson's disease, as well as to develop the tools to probe these operations in nonhuman primates, and in humans. Disciplines span neuroscience, electrical, chemical, and bio- engineering, microfabrication, materials science, and chemistry.

Research

We build implantable tools for probing multiple forms of brain activity—e.g. electrical and chemical—with the key capability of enabling these probing functions for use over the entirety of a human lifetime. Our goal is to develop tools that will allow us to elucidate brain function in healthy and pathological states in order to improve diagnosis & treatment of neurological disorders.

Team

A team of talented students, post-docs, technicians, and scientists, including multi-disciplinary collaborators is essential to advancing our research. Description of openings available at Join the Team.

Publications

Building on previous studies, we will strive to disseminate key research milestones in peer-reviewed journals and conferences.

Resources

Much of our applied hardware and software is custom-made, available as open-source code and circuit schematics, and described in our publications.
